BOUNCY

Bouncy bouncy iza, it seems that you can hardly stop for a while ...

Paper paper, you just stretches our capacity of imagination ...

Beautiful pop-up books : Yellow Square & 600 Black spots, by David Carter. Nice gifts for children of all ages and for those who's in love with paper crafts.

Paper lovers, will you be interested in resolving this paper puzzle by professor Ed Barbeau?

The book seems for toddlers. No, not really. Just a single touch of a finger will spark a whimsical dance of color. Iza loves it so much.
Enjoy the power of imagination. Press here.

THE HEART AND THE BOTTLE

"Once there was a girl ...
whose head was filled with all the curiosities of the world."

Till one day,
"She was no longer filled with all the curiosities of the world,
and didn't take much notice of anything ... "

As written on the book,
"He deals with the weighty themes of love and loss with an extraordinary lightness of touch ..."

We were once children.
But few of us have sustained our curiosities, our boundless thoughts and imaginations, acute senses to the smallest and the most inconspicuous, the wonder-filled world ...
Many times, we do not understand why children have so many questions, why they do not behave as we wish, why they are always running around and cannot sit still, why they have such a behavioral or emotional response ...
We do not understand children even we were once one of them.

Holding the baby iza on my arms, i had an urge to survive her inborn sense of wonder, curiosity, imagination and the adventurous spirit throughout her growing path. I believe, all children are born with these.

Here is another lovely book by Oliver Jeffers.

Today, I read an interesting article on creativity via imagine childhood.

JIGSAW OF THE WORLD

i love to observe silently when iza is very focused ...
throughout the years, i find her scraping together in her mind her own jigsaw puzzle of the world ... tracing and fitting together ties between geography, ecology, history (especially chinese history) and people ... i would wait patiently to see her finding the knots in architecture, art, music, film ... in her map, one day.
i need the patience,
i need the strong will
to keep silent.
iza, you take the lead, i will follow.

A glowing globe ... sea animals reveal when the light is on ...

The label under "The gentleness of being a mother" will be a series of sharing on raising of my child. I'm a bit nervous when i was asked by a tender mama on sharing this ... in reality, i always feel weak and lost, and still searching on how to be a mother, a companion of my child ...
As reading a beautiful post by Kenza, i'm enchanted by her conviction on sharing between such beautiful ties knotted across the world. A little sharing is tying a tiny knot in spreading the gentleness of being a mother ... Thanks to Kenza for sharing this wonderful art of "Messenger with a Letter". Thanks to Ayshik mama.
This first post is about my reflection on the role as mama ....

There are many nicely illustrated books in China.

These days, I rush and dash.
I wish I could sit down and response to my dear friends who left comments on my former posts ...
When i'm thinking on Yoli's question,
"Do you think she will be a scientist or an artist? Or both?"
all those nice people who have been guiding iza through her growing path appear in my mind, one by one ...
For those who have been with iza for more than 2-3 years may well understand her "drama" through the years ...
memories flash back ...
some moments still strike me ...

When she made these statements when she was 3-4,
The slower it goes, the faster it becomes."
and,
I think she will be a scientist.

When she asked me,
and
and,
I believe she will be a good thinker.

When we discovered her acute sense on colors,
we know this might be an advantage to her if she wants to be an artist or designer.

With all difficulties on her start of learning music,
we would not imagine that she could astonish her flute teacher by pointing out his mistakes with her highly sensitive aural ability.
This might explain why she refused to play certain music by just looking at the notes (without playing), she simply said that it would not sound good.
Apart from piano, violin and flute, she wants to learn cello, harp, oboe, trumpet ...
I wonder she could be a conductor.

Maybe, it is the fun as being a mother. Always, like a detective, tracing for hints and clues, resolving "riddles", desperate to know not what's happened, but what will happen ...

IMPRESSION 2

,Hong Kong - scaffolding

"... it is not half so important to know as to feel..."
Rachel Carson's words keep whirling in my head.

and,
these days,
these words,
just come straight into my heart ...

"... three qualities are essential if the relationship with the child is to be alive and, in the true sense... The first is imagination, which transforms the intellectual content of one's teaching into a language of experience that speaks directly to the child's soul; the second is courage for the truth of world realities; and the third is a feeling of responsibility toward what is truly human in the children entrusted to our care."
Rudolf Steiner

to feel and to enliven imagination ...
to keep alive a child's inborn sense of wonder...
to truly serve our darling child...
reflections on experiencing anew daily life...
I come to recollect some fragments,
record some unrelated impressions...
It is what this IMPRESSION series is about ...
a visual note on a non-linear process of restoring of my paralyzed senses.

Impressions ...
they are pictorial feelings in my mind.
